Undeclared Checklist
How do I begin the major exploration process?
Being an undeclared student can be quite intimidating! To better assist students in discovering majors that match their interests and capabilities, the Academic Exploration Program has designed the Undeclared Checklist to simplify the major selection process. Undeclared students should attempt to complete this checklist during their first year at UCF. The checklist will guide students in discovering their strengths and interests, researching potential majors, and utilizing appropriate campus resources. Undeclared students should also print this checklist and bring it to their academic advising appointment with their first year advisor if they have further questions.

* UCF Undeclared Policy- All students at the University of Central Florida are expected to officially declare a major prior to earning 45 college credit hours (this includes credits earned from CLEP, Dual Enrollment, AP, and IB). An administrative hold to prevent future university registration will be placed on the records of all students that have not declared a major. Students must meet with an academic advisor (within Student Development and Enrollment Services, the Colleges, or Regional Campuses) to have the hold released.

What is next? Choosing a major is not the last step, it is only the beginning!
Many students think career planning begins sometime in the future when it actually began in high school. As freshmen, students enjoy faster progress toward graduation and a more fulfilling selection of a major and career if they follow an action plan.
The Academic Exploration Program has constructed a step-by-step plan of tasks to be completed that will speed time to graduation and increase the chances of being in the "right major." Each year as an undergraduate student, there are several simple but very rewarding steps to follow that streamline progress to graduation and into a desired career or graduate and professional school.
